Volunteer

We need lots of volunteer help to make this event a success. If you’d like to help please contact us at volunteer@tcvegfest.com. Some of the positions have been filled. Positions with available slots are at the top of the list.

Sign Language Interpreter

Provide sign language interpretation services for attendees who need this; interpret talks that these attendees would like to attend.

  • Requirements: experience with sign language interpretation; friendly; capable of real-time interpretation
  • Benefits: meet other CAA volunteers; help make this event more accessible

Clean-up

Pack up, help exhibitors carry things if needed; clean space as needed.

  • Requirements: helpful direction-followers who are able to lift heavy objects (50 lbs)
  • Benefits: meet different exhibitors with veg-friendly products!

Data Entry (after the event)

  • Requirements: Ability to type, follow instructions, and pay close attention to Detail
  • Benefits: Behind-the-scenes work
  • Date and Time: Monday, July 16, 6 to 9 pm at the CAA Community Office, 2100 First Ave S, Minneapolis (1 available)

Maintenance – filled

Monitor water stations and refill as needed; monitor trash and compost receptacles and empty as needed.

  • Requirements: tough heavy-lifter who can tolerate trash and carry heavy water jugs
  • Benefits: teach others about compostable options and improve our environment!

Food Giveaway Table – filled

Staff tables for exhibitors who cannot provide staff; give away food and literature from exhibitor.

  • Requirements: friendly, hard-working, and careful with food safety
  • Benefits: provide delicious vegan food to attendees!

Veg Fest Table – filled

Staff the Veg Fest info table and answer questions from attendees; sell raffle tickets and maintain records needed for raffle; handle volunteer check-ins.

  • Requirements: knowledgeable, involved CAA volunteer who is good with people
  • Benefits: help others navigate the event and meet a variety of people, while educating the public about animal issues and vegetarianism/veganism!

Bag Stuffers – filled

Help us stuff 1,000 swag bags for attendees

  • Requirements: fast-learners who can work quickly and efficiently and don’t mind repetition
  • Benefits: meet and talk with like-minded volunteers!
  • Date and Time: Tuesday, July 10, 6-10pm.
  • Location: The CAA Campus Office located at Room 226, Coffman Memorial Union at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.

Set-up – filled

Set up tables for exhibitors; set up the CAA and Veg Fest tables; help exhibitors carry things if needed

  • Requirements: helpful direction-followers who are able to lift heavy objects (50 lbs)
  • Benefits: meet different exhibitors with veg-friendly products!
  • Date and Time: 8:00am – 10:00am

Speaker Monitor – filled

Help speakers set up; be the contact for any technical difficulties; answer questions that attendees may have regarding speaker agenda; tell speakers when they have 15, 10, and 5 minutes remaining; pass out and collect donation remittance envelopes.

  • Requirements: professional, interactive people-person ready to help our distinguished speakers
  • Benefits: meet reputable experts in the field and connect with great people!

CAA Table – filled

Staff the CAA table and answer questions from attendees; manage giving away donated food; run our Paid per View video program; solicit donations and ask people to volunteer (for future work).

  • Requirements: knowledgeable, involved CAA volunteer who is good with people
  • Benefits: help others navigate the event and meet a variety of people, while educating the public about animal issues and vegetarianism/veganism!

Greeter – filled

Welcome attendees and hand out bags and programs; count attendees with mechanical counter.

  • Requirements: friendly people-person who is upbeat, cheerful, and welcoming and has a basic knowledge of the event to answer questions
  • Benefits: help others navigate the event and meet a variety of people, while educating the public about animal issues and vegetarianism/veganism!

Floater – filled

Staff the info table, run errands as needed, and fill staffing gaps

  • Requirements: flexible laid-back volunteer who can go with the flow and respond to our needs as necessary with knowledge of CAA and the event
  • Benefits: possibly have a variety of tasks throughout the day to help others navigate the event and meet a variety of people!

Tech Support – filled

Help with technical difficulties as needed (especially for speakers).

  • Requirements: tech-savvy computer geek who likes working with various electronic equipment

Facility Liaison – filled

Check bathrooms for soap, paper, etc., make sure rooms are stocked with necessities

  • Requirements: organized multi-tasker who can monitor several different areas at once

Kid’s Area – filled

Help with kids activities, games, etc.

  • Requirements: kid-friendly caretaker who loves playing games with youngsters

Break Room – filled

Staff the break room and keep refreshments and snacks fully stocked

Photographer – filled

Take semi-professional pictures of all activities during the event

  • Requirements: outgoing photographer (preferably with a professional camera) who has an eye for framing and an idea of what images would promote next year’s event
  • Benefits: show off your photography skills and/or gain experience and expertise!
